Yallamanadoddi Lake
Located near the upcoming IIMB college in Yallamanadoddi Village, Jigani, Bangalore City, lies a small lake that has been a critical source of groundwater for four surrounding villages. Unfortunately, the lake had been in a partially dry state, leading to significant water scarcity issues. Furthermore, the lake was the primary source of water for the local cattle population.
Recognizing the severity of the situation, a lake renovation project was initiated on February 25th, 2022. The project was executed in a phased approach, which included de-watering, de-silting, formation of the bund, stone revetment, kerb laying, plantation for the project, and providing fencing along with the gate. The renovation was completed within an impressive 35-day period.
Volunteers Shajeeb and ShajiMon spearheaded the project, with support from the International Association for Human Values (IAHV) NGO. The project was made possible through CSR funding from Hikal Ltd.
Thanks to the successful completion of this lake renovation project, the surrounding villages can now rely on a reliable source of groundwater, and the local cattle population can access much-needed water. The project represents a significant step towards improving the quality of life for those living in the Yallamanadoddi Village and surrounding areas.
