69, Bettadasanapura, Bengaluru, Karnataka 560100, India

Project Summary

CSR Partner: Digit88
Implementation Partner: Twin Glacier Foundation
Budget: ₹ 2,00,000
Location: Vittasandra Village, Bangalore South (Survey No. 54, Beguru-2 Hobli)
Area: 18 guntas (Approx. 19,602 sq.ft)

The Vittasandra Lake had deteriorated due to weak bunds, heavy silt deposition, reduced depth, and blocked inlet–outlet channels, resulting in extremely low water storage and declining ecological health.

Twin Glacier Foundation, supported by Digit88, undertook a complete rejuvenation of the lake. Key interventions included strengthening bund walls, deepening and desilting the lakebed, restoring water channels, and installing new inlet–outlet pipelines. Native saplings were planted to improve greenery and biodiversity around the lake.

Impact:

  • Water capacity increased from ~10,000 litres to ~10,00,000+ litres

  • Stronger boundary walls ensuring long-term structural stability

  • Improved groundwater recharge for surrounding communities

  • Enhanced habitat for birds and native species

  • Stone ramps built for safe cattle access

  • A small temple created to preserve local cultural sentiment

This project has transformed the Vittasandra Lake into a sustainable, community-friendly, and ecologically vibrant waterbody, supporting both environmental and social well-being.
